Kailang 12-Sep-16 16:51 12-Sep-16 16:51 Thanks Carlo for his amazing work! Note that this visualization only works for x86(32-bit) version of Windows Media Player. You have to place the 'WM3DSpectrum.dll' inside 'C: Program Files (x86) Windows Media Player Visualizations' if you are using a x64 version Windows. 1) Install: DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime from Or, if you, like me, cannot install DirectX 9.0c on Windows 10, install: DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) from 2) Copy WM3DSpectrum.dll to C: Program Files (x86) Windows Media Player Visualizations You cannot do this without Administrator Priviledge. 3) Run cmd.exe(Command Prompt) as Administrator, type in: cd C: Program Files (x86) Windows Media Player Visualizations to enter the Visualization folder. Then type in: regsvr32 WM3DSpectrum.dll to register the dll. If you see a pop-up saying that something has been successfully installed, you can now go to Windows Media Player and choose '3D Spectrum Analyzer' from the Visualization dropdown.
If you are using x86(32-bit) Windows, just drop all the ' (x86)' (drop the space as well!) from the above instructions. Theorganeer 17-Sep-11 12:05 17-Sep-11 12:05 Like several other posts, I was unable to load the binaries of the 3D Spectrum Analyzer even though I have WMPlayer 11 and DirectX 9.0c as the minimum requirements suggested. The error message is 'LoadLibrary('WM3DSpectrum.dll')failed - The specified module could not be found.' Dependency Walker indicates that the following are missing: D3DX940.DLL, MSVCR80.DLL, IESHIMS.DLL, WER.DLL. I suspect that MSVCR80 is related to Visual Studio, and D3DX940 is some version difference with DX9, old or new, but I'm not sure about the others. Does anyone have a clue about the fix for this?
It's a pity since this is one of the more useful visualizations for WMPlayer. BTW, there was no installer included with the binaries. I know this is a couple years old, but could someone provide a fix? I cannot install this product. The article talks about 'the attached installer', but I only find source code and a zip containing a lib and a dll. I'm not a Windows programmer, and am lost when not handed an installer. I went to Microsoft and downloaded the VS2008 support libraries as directed.
I tried typing in the 'regsvr32 WM3DSpectrum.dll' command from my temp directory containing the unzipped files and it can't find it. I tried copying the dll to windows system and it still can't find it.

Looking at the larger zip doesn't help me. The extra files there are just source stuff, as labeled. You mentioned an installer. Is this downloaded somewhere else?
